Golf In North Wales
Snowdonia was one of the first areas in Great Britain to be declared a National Park. Spectacular mountain scenery and historic castles and towns provide wonderful opportunities for walkers, climbers and sightseers. Attractive inns and villages abound.
The nearby coastline is extremely picturesque and provides ideal linksland for golf. Royal St David's is the jewel in the crown but Aberdovey, Conwy, North Wales and Nefyn & District are all well worth a visit.
The Aberdovey Golf Course
The Aberdovey golf Course in North Wales was a personal favorite of famous British golf writer Bernard Darwin. His uncles created the golf club in 1892, although James Braid made important revisions to the original course layout. The golf course still retains a very traditional feel, with cattle sometimes grazing on the first fairway, a railway line close by, miles of wonderful beach and an enchanting small town with tidal estuary views. Conwy Golf Course
Conwy, North Wales is home to the Caernarvonshire Golf Club, which was founded in 1890. The golf course provides fine views of the Conwy estuary and surrounding hills are to be had from all parts of the course, which features a number of challenging par 4s and some delightful but tricky short holes. Nefyn & District
Nefyn & District is a classic seaside holiday course, much favoured by 20th century British Prime Ministers David Lloyd George and Clement Atlee, and where ex-Masters champion Ian Woosnam holds the course record of 67. Much of the course runs along the cliff tops and holes 11 to 18 are perched on a headland with outstanding views. The tiny Ty Coch Inn nestles in a cove below the 12th green.

North Wales North Wales GC is in nearby Llandudno and dates from 1894, although James Braid made significant later revisions. Overlooking Conwy Bay, this is a challenging seaside links where the wind is usually a major factor. Call IGT to book your golf vacation including North Wales CC in North Wales, today.
Royal St. David
Royal St. David s is by common consent the best course in North Wales - a classic links that curiously has no views of the sea other than from the elevated 16th tee. Although a ridge of dunes shields a glorious sandy beach, the views from all parts of the course are dominated by the massive peaks of Snowdonia, which rise majestically to the north and east. The ancient castle stands high above the course and, like Conwy and Beaumaris, is the work of James of St George for Edward I.
